Testicular Cancer

Category Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the testicles, which are part of the male reproductive system. The testicles, also known as testes, are two small glands located inside the scrotum, the sac of skin below the penis. Testicular cancer usually begins in the cells that produce sperm, called germ cells.

Testicular cancer is relatively rare compared to other types of cancer, but it is the most common cancer in young men between the ages of 15 and 35. The exact cause of testicular cancer is often unknown, but factors such as family history, undescended testicles, and certain genetic conditions may increase the risk.

Symptoms of testicular cancer may include:

  • A lump or swelling in one or both testicles.

  • Pain or discomfort in the testicle or scrotum.

  • A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum.

  • Changes in the size or shape of the testicles.

  • Pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen or groin area.
